2024 Starfield Kids Library
Just as trees form unique layers of rings shaped by each season of their environment, children create their own distinctive paths and patterns in life while growing up.
Starfield Kids Libarary concept was born from the question: "How can we transform the library's static space to suit the boundless and vibrant energy flow of children?" We drew inspiration from the 'circular layers of tree' and the 'cycle of activity and rest' found in tree rings.

“아이들은 계절과 환경에 따라 자신만의 독특한 나이테를 그리며 자랍니다.”
수원 별마당 키즈는 “도서관이라는 정적인 공간을 어떻게 활발하고 에너지넘치는 아이들에게 맞추어 변화시킬 수 있을까?” 라는 고민에서 시작되었습니다.
나무의 나이테와 같은 원형의 형태는 아이들의 솔직한 모습과 다양한 아이들이 함께 어울리는 모습을 시각화합니다.
곡선의 엇갈림과 다양한 높낮이를 통해 정적이지 않고 다이나믹한 아이들의 활동을 유도하고자 하였습니다.

The 1.2m-high walls throughout the library were carefully designed with both children and parents in mind. At a child’s eye level, the focus is on the playful joy of ever-changing scenes, like exploring a winding labyrinth. From a parent’s perspective, the layout serves as a ‘guardian,’ enabling an easy overview of the children’s activities.
